Same-Sex 'Marriage': Our Mutual Deception

Taking Back the Rainbow

Earlier this month a misleading, deceptive and very biased pro-homosexual article was written by Lisa Miller and several associates for Newsweek magazine. In fact, it was the cover story. I wrote one article about this shameful sham "report" already. However, because of the impact such a piece of trash Newsweek article can have, it deserves further condemnation and exposure. I will point out a few more inconsistencies and make a few more observations.

First, Newsweek, like many of its brothers and sisters in the mainstream media, is blatantly and unequivocally pro-homosexual. They have an obvious bias toward advancing that most hurtful society-destroying agenda. They do not let truth get in the way of their “reporting.”

Second, the Bible clearly condemns homosexuality and lesbian behavior. Jesus clearly recognizes the fact that we are all sinners and need a Savior. If He were physically present today, then He would be associating with adulterers, homosexuals, lesbians, embezzlers, etc. Those that are sick, need a physician, He said. Homosexuality, despite what the medical profession of recent days claims (because it is frightened of the vile, violent homosexual lobby) homosexual behavior is clearly abnormal, unhealthy, unnatural, and immoral.

Third, the liberal view that the Bible, like the United States Constitution, is a “living” document is false and fallacious. Both are a standard, the first established by God and the second by the God-fearing, predominately Christian founding fathers of America. The Bible's principles are absolute, not subject to change in society’s mores. The Bible is living in the sense that God the Holy Spirit uses it as a living instrument to bring His Word and His gospel to human beings. It cannot be altered. The United States Constitution has been designed to be a solid foundation upon which the laws and organization of this nation are to be governed. The wise founders anticipated that amendments beyond the Bill of Rights may become necessary, and made that provision for future medications.

.
LISA LIES LIBERALLY

Fourth, Miller lies when she said, “While the Bible and Jesus say many important things about love and family, neither explicitly defines marriage as between one man and one woman." Jesus said, "YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER; YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY; YOU SHALL NOT STEAL; YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS." His reference to the sin of adultery refers to the breaking and abuse of the sacred marriage relationship. A married man or married woman who cheat on their spouse is an adulterer. Furthermore, Jesus’ standard for the Christian is even more severe, in that He called any married (or unmarried, for that matter) looking lustfully at a woman is also guilty of adultery. Biblical standards are high. They seem impossible, but that is why we need a Savior. Jesus also condemns divorce.

Fifth, another lies involves Miller’s statement, “If the bible doesn't give abundant examples of traditional marriage, then what are the (same-sex)-marriage opponents really exercised about?" The apostle Paul in the Bible talks about the qualifications of church leaders as “must be above reproach, the husband of one wife . . ." Presumably the leaders of the church set the example for the flock!

Sixth, Miller also contends that homosexual behavior does not equate to perversion. However, homosexual behavior IS perverse. She says, Paul was tough on homosexuality, though recently “”progressive (who themselves pervert the truth) scholars” have argued that his condemnation of men who "were inflamed with lust for one another" (which he calls "a perversion") is really a critique of the worst kind of wickedness: self-delusion, violence, promiscuity and debauchery.” Dah, that, precisely is what homosexual behavior is Ms. Miller!

Seventh, Ms. Miller contends, “A mature view of scriptural authority requires us, as we have in the past, to move beyond literalism.” Actually it requires a childish, self-centered view, an immature view to reject biblical principles. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 referring to itself, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” In Deuteronomy 4:2 the Bible states, “Ye shall not add unto the word which I (God) command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.” The Bible is to be taken literally. It is immutable. It is not subject to the whims of man. The Word of God is not negotiable. It can be ignored and disobeyed, but it remains man’s absolute guide for life.

Eighth, Miller presents another lie saying, “We cannot look to the Bible as a marriage manual, but we can read it for universal truths as we struggle toward a more just future.” This is false. The Bible presents clear principles for all life, especially God-ordained marriage and the traditional, natural family unit. What better advice and principles to grasp and apply than the following passage:

Ephesians 5:22-33

"22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband."

Ninth, another lie that Miller perpetuates is found in the following quote, “The great Bible scholar Walter Brueggemann, emeritus professor at Columbia Theological Seminary, quotes the apostle Paul when he looks for biblical support of (homosexual) marriage: "There is neither Greek nor Jew, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Jesus Christ." The religious argument for (homosexual) marriage, he adds, "is not generally made with reference to particular texts, but with the general conviction that the Bible is bent toward inclusiveness." Here is the passage referred to above in context:

Galatians 3:27-29

“For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants, heirs according to promise.”

This passage clearly shows that God does not discriminate in who He allows into His kingdom, who He allows to be redeemed through His Son, Jesus Christ. All are eligible if they but accept Jesus. This passage has nothing to do with justifying same-sex unions or ‘marriage.’ Liberals like to use the term “inclusiveness” when it is convenient for them to do so. Christianity includes those who believe, but it also excludes those who do not believe. Ms. Miller and that “great Bible scholar” Brueggemann, whom she quotes should read the clear pronouncement in this passage of scripture:

1 Corinthians 6:8-10

“On the contrary, you yourselves wrong and defraud. You do this even to your brethren. Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.”

Could same-sex ‘marriage’ or their uncivilized unions be any more condemned than by these words?

Finally, Miller makes another remarkable misstatement, “More basic than theology, though, is human need.” No, Ms. Miller, more basic than man’s need is man’s sin. Man is a totally depraved creature apart from redemption that God offers in and through His Son, Jesus Christ. Man’s basic need is for salvation, a Savior. That men “need” to partake in homosexual behavior, in stealing, in murder, in rape, in child abuse, in adultery, in assaults, in pornography are indicative of their need for a spiritual heart surgeon, a Savior.

Below are references to the basic Newsweek article and two responses to that article. One by Newsbusters.org and the other by the Family Research Council (FRC). Both give great arguments that destroy Miller's basic premise and conclusion that same-sex marriage is justified in Scripture. The FRC blog article takes you point by point through the Newsweek article much more articulately than I did.

Perhaps Newsweek should sack the author of the article since it is such bad journalism.

Thanks for your comment. I think yours is a good suggestion. But I would like to see Newsweek print rest of the story. People should cancel their subscriptions to the magazine as well, that would be the best response.

Good for Newsweek, good for them. Too bad you can't stop it :) Vermont just decided to recognize same-sex marriage. We are only progressing. Soon you hateful bigots will die off.

I quite enjoyed your little hateful story. Its completely ridiculous I might add.

Your logic is flawed. Jesus said do not COMMIT ADULTERY. Where does that imply that marriage is required to be between a man and a woman? LOL! You have not made a legitimate argument there at all. It convinces no-one.

Second- the medical profession is "frightened" of the "vile, violent homosexual lobby"??? LOL! LOL! Its funny how you try to sound smart, and that you have legitimate evidence. I bet you cannot cite a single source that proves that the homosexual lobby is "VIOLENT." That is something you made up, and is a bias piece of crap that you believe, because you are REALLY brainwashed- it is very obvious to me.

I would suggest that you stop arrogantly claiming what God or Jesus believes. You have not sat down with them, and you do not even know the history behind the document that is the Bible.

Good for Newsweek. I am going to write them a letter, along with everyone else I tell, about how they are saving America from bigots like you that oppress gay people.

Homosexuality is clearly not a choice. Do you choose to be heterosexual? No. Sexuality involved hormones, and other biological processes. Not a choice.

"Well they should still marry a woman- because that is what is right." So you want a gay man to pretend they are something they are not, and pretend to be attracted to the woman he is forced to marry? Wow, that's doing great justice to the woman. I bet she would feel great about that.

"Well...then they should be celibate" you say? Hm...well I think it makes more sense that GOD would give everyone a chance to love, don't you think? Why would he discriminate among his children?

I am taking religious study courses in college on Christianity and the Bible, and have actually read multiple books on this controversy. I was also a Christian most of my life.

    Your arguments retain no water.

You have no standing whatsoever :)

Find something better to do with your life then writing this trash. You only have two other comments, especially since you will probably not accept my comment (which I don't care. I just wanted to get my point across). Nobody reads this hateful nutty brainwashed garbage.

Luckily America is moving forward. (By the way- prop 8 passed because the YES campaign had an impressive strategy with lies, and the sneaky "protecting the family" argument, as well as much funding from Mormon and Catholic organizations- not because of mass opinion).

Watch what happens with prop 8 :)
