Rick Santorum is a Pro-Life Fraud

Rick Santorum endorsedand campaigned for Arlen Specter, one of the most God-hating Senators we have ever had.  Pro-abortion, pro-gay rights Specter spearheaded the effort to kill the Robert Bork nomination to the Supreme Court when Reagan was President.  "He's with us on the issues that matter," said Santorum.  Specter has always been openly in favor of abortion funding.  After Specter switched parties, he voted for Obamacare.  And while Santorum claims to be pro-life, he has voted at least 3 times for DHHS appropriations bills which supply Planned Parenthood with your tax dollars to murder babies.  Santorum has also endorsed and campaigned for partial birth abortion supporter Christie Todd Whitman.

There have been many bills introduced into the Congress which seek to recognize the personhood of humans from conception.  There are arguments among pro-lifers about which one is best.  There are ones which use the Due Process and Equal Protection clauses of the 14th Amendment along with Congress' power to enforce it.  There are ones that use the Exceptions clause of Article III section 2 to strip abortion jurisdiction from the Supreme Court and the congressional power to create and regulate the lower courts.  Others say that the only possible solution is a constitutional amendment.  Many professing pro-life congressmen will only support the type of legislation that they think is best.  But Rick Santorum has never sponsored or cosponsored ANY bill or resolution recognizing the personhood of the unborn.

  1. Matt - You point out some very troubling issues in candidate Santorum. But with Bachmann and Cain gone, he is the best of the remaining crop of very flawed candidates.

The reason Santorum said he supported awful Arlen was that Santorum had assurances from Specter that he would not resist the Bush Supreme Court appointments. Santorum claims that Specter is the reason we got Alito and Roberts. Apparently Santorum calculated that Toomey would be elected if he was the GOP nominee.

In retrospect, Santorum made a bad decision. However, Romney is the real pro-life fraud of all of the candidates. His record is the most anti-conservative record across-the-board of all the GOP candidates, with the possible exception of Huntsman. On my list of candidates Romney rates tied with Barack Obama.

Santorum decided to back Specter, but even Bush support awful Arlen. I believe Santorum voted what he felt was the right thing for him to do to help the pro-life cause in the long-run. Had Toomey won the primary, but lost the election to any Democrat, we might not have had Roberts and/or Alito. I may disagree with his decision to support Specter, but I can see why he did it.
Who has a stronger pro-life record than Santorum?

  2. Look at this bill, Greg:

You might agree with Santorum more on other issues, but there is no way you can say Santorum is more pro-life than Ron Paul. Santorum has never supported ANY legislation like this. Ron Paul has never voted for bills which fund Planned Parenthood like Santorum did. Don't be fooled! Think about it, why did federal funding for Planned Parenthood keep going up and up even when the Republicans controlled all branches of government? Its because of corrupt politicians like Santorum.

Judge Alito ruled that a law against partial birth abortion was unconstitutional and became "open minded" about Roe v. Wade in his Senate confirmation hearings (formerly he stated that he disagreed with Roe v. Wade).

Roberts is similarly is not the strict constructionist that most conservatives imagine.

When has supporting compromisers ever worked? Name three things that Santorum has actually done that you agree with. (Not what he says, but what he has done!) If you don't look into voting records of the candidates, you will vote for candidates who will vote against your principles. Assume that everything a candidate says is a lie until you can prove otherwise.

Santorum has no understanding whatsoever about the proper separation of powers according to the Constitution.

I don't think either Paul or Santorum will elected anyway because the Republicans have already coronated Romney. Even if Ron Paul or Rick Santorum were to win every remaining caucus and primary, the establishment of the party would find some way to ensure that Romney gets it anyway.

I have more about Santorum, but I don't know if I'm going to waste any more time writing about the Presidential election since it is such a lost cause and since even Paul, though far, far, better than any of the other candidates, is still quite flawed. I have far, far, better things to focus on like the Personhood Amendment. The proof that we at Personhood are actually doing something worthwhile is that Planned Parenthood is suing us!
