The Fall of Man - Part 1 - The Command
God issued a command to the human race concerning the eating of fruit. The Koran gives a slightly different version of that command than the Holy Bible gives.
The Koran states, “We said, ‘Adam, dwell with your wife in Paradise and eat of its fruit to your hearts’ content wherever you will. But never approach this tree or you shall both become transgressors (1).”
“Adam, we said, ‘Satan is an enemy to you and your wife. Let him not turn you both out of Paradise and plunge you into affliction. Here you shall not hunger or be naked you shall not thirst, or feel the scorching heat (2).’”
The Holy Scriptures (Bible) gives a different account of the command of God concerning the eating of the fruit from the trees of the Garden of Eden. The Holy Bible says, “And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there He put the man, whom He had formed. And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden and the tree of knowledge of good and evil (3).”
The Lord God took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to till it and to keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil , you shall not eat of it, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die (4).”
In the Koran, god is reported to be commanding both the man and the woman. The Holy Bible reports that the man is commanded by God and not the woman. No doubt the command to Adam was given before the creation of Eve. In Holy Scripture the command is given to Adam before God says, “It is not good for the man that he should be alone.” The man is then responsible for telling the woman of God’s command. Adam added to God’s command when he commanded the woman. “Don’t even touch it (5).”
The Koran states the name of the tree as, “this tree”. The Holy Scripture specifically names the tree, “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil”.
According to the Koran; God warns Adam and Eve of Satan: that he is their arch enemy. According to Scripture; God does not tell Adam of Satan, but only a warning, with the consequence of death for disobedience. God was calling for obedience. Knowledge of Satan was not necessary.
Adam is told in the Koran to dwell with his wife in paradise and not to let Satan turn them out of paradise. The Holy Bible states that God planted a garden called Eden. God gave Adam a job of being the caretaker of the garden.
We can easily see that the Koran changes the Bible’s account. It leaves out important details regarding the command of God.
Is it possible that God has a task for you to do as well? It begins by repenting of your sins and inviting Jesus into your heart. You can pray, “Lord Jesus Christ forgive me of my sins and come into my heart.”
