John Freshwater Termination Hearing – Day 4

Righting First Amendment Wrongs

The second phase of the Freshwater Termination Hearing continued today.

DAY FOUR

Today, Wednesday, October 29, 2008, was the fourth day of the Freshwater Termination Hearing.
According to the MountVernonNews.com most of the morning and afternoon sessions revolved around the Mount Vernon City School Board attorney David Millstone, and the defendant’s attorney, Kelly Hamilton, questioning and cross-examining of Freshwater’s Middle School Principal, Bill White. The newspaper’s website mentioned that one of the areas of questioning by the school board's attorney of Mr. White was what constituted a religious display. On the other hand, Freshwater’s attorney asked White why other teachers where not asked to remove their “religious” displays this school year.

The hearing is expected to continue the end of the week.

Here is Richard B. Hoppe's account of DAY FOUR from his Panda'sThumb blog. Apparently he has been attending the actual hearing and provides much more detail than do any of the newspaper accounts.

DAY THREE

Richard Hoppe on his Panda’sThumb blog summarizes Day 3 of the hearing.

I do not agree with Hoppe’s bias as he covers the hearing, he seems to be convinced of Freshwater’s guilt and has him already convicted and terminated.

Well isn't that the pot calling the kettle black. Richard Hoppe is there and has followed this, yet HE is biased? Have you read your posts? ALL of them??

I presume Freshwater to be innocent before he is proven to be guilty. Hoppe presumes him to be guilty before he is proven innocent. That is the only difference.

Actually, I believe you have the same beliefs as Freshwater, so no matter what happens you feel you guys are correct.
