People Line Both Sides of Main Street, Shelby, Ohio

Downtown Shelby, Ohio Saturday, 11/07/09

Saturday afternoon, November 7, 2009, the town of Shelby hosted a Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Parade. The streets of Shelby were lined with people 2 and 3+ people deep. It was a great response. I happened to be invited to ride, along with fellow-blogger, Sam, on one of the floats. The steady clapping and signs and shouts of thanks were inspirational. I was in the back line in Vietnam for a year, but I got choked up at the presence and sincere appreciation shown. What a stark contrast with what happened 40 years ago. Now many of those protesters of the war have various positions in and around the White House and government and the Democrat Party.
