Stop Spending, Start Cutting

The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch runs a regular feature in its newspaper identifying an important issue to the local community and asking the vote of the readers on that issue along with comments. Occasionally I will respond and comment on the issue raised, as I did to yesterday’s topic.

The Hot Issue, Monday November 16, 2009:

How would you balance the state budget?

___ Delay the income-tax cut
___ Create a ballot issue to increase casino taxes
___ Cut pay of all state workers
___ More budget cuts

My Response:

Here is my response to the Hot Issue Question.

Trim all state agencies and programs across the board by the percentage needed to balance the budget. Another suggestion is to eliminate the useless bureaucratic laden Department of Education.

It is a simple solution. How about making everyone feel the pain? Our politicians, I am afraid do not have the will to implement real solutions. They are worried about their special interests and their reelection. That is paramount, not doing what is right.
