PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO YOUR CONGRESSMAN

I got the message below from ALL (The American Life League). He are my important comments on this message:

I did sign the petition to have the language added to Title X of the DHHS Appropriations bill that would prevent any funds in it from being allocated to Planned Parenthood. But I have 3 questions about this.

First, why now? Why couldn’t this have been done when there was a Republican controlled congress? Wouldn’t that have been much easier? They had six years! Some of the Democrats (e.g. Heath Shuler) who were elected in 2006 were actually more conservative than the incumbent Republicans who they defeated, but there weren’t THAT many.

Secondly, why only PP? Why not prevent ALL abortion providers from receiving funds? Whose toes do you not want to step on, Mr. Pence? If this amendment is added to the bill, Planned Parenthood could easily create a spin off corporation with a different name and do the same dirty business as always.
Mike Pence did vote for H.R. 3010 (109th Congress), a DHHS appropriations bill that does fund abortions, and so did ALMOST ALL OF THE OTHER REPUBLICANS.

That brings us to the third question. Why not just stop voting for DHHS appropriations bills? It’s like as if the DHHS is some kind of monster that will eat us all alive if we stop feeding it. The whole idea of federally funded health services isn’t even constitutionally legal (see Amendment X, U.S. Constitution). It’s like as if voting yes on one of these bills which has abortion funding in it doesn’t count as voting for abortion funding! I have seen
candidate positions comparisons put out by the National Right to Life which say about John McCain Voted consistently against federal funding of abortion. This is a BLATANT LIE. He DID vote for H.R. 3010 (109th Congress) which DOES federally fund abortions! Lately McCain, Obama, Biden, and Clinton have been abstaining from these votes on DHHS bills which contain abortion funding (e.g. H.R. 2764). IF YOU WANT TO TRACK SUCH BILLS now or in the future, go to http://thomas.loc.gov/bss/ and search for “Department of Health and Human Services”, and then look for appropriations bills. The solution to the problem of abortion funding is simple. STOP VOTING FOR YOUR CONGRESSMAN UNLESS HE REFUSES TO VOTE FOR THESE BILLS! If they’re willing to sacrifice unborn babies or promote promiscuity for the sake of a social program, then they’re not worth it. Jesus said:

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Matt 7:21-23 (KJV)

I once contacted my state representative (now running for state senate) about an answer he put on a Cincinnati Right to Life questionnaire about passing legislation that would cut off all state funding to any organization that provides abortions. He indicated on the survey that he wouldn’t. So I wrote to him and asked him why. He gave me some sob story that if we cut off all funds even to hospitals that provide abortions, then so many cancer patients would not receive treatments that they need. I tried to explain to him that funding healthcare is not a legitimate function of government and that this would better left to charities and insurance companies to pay for, but he wouldn’t listen. Maybe, just maybe, IF WE CUT OFF THE FUNDS TO THESE HOSPITALS, then they would STOP PERFORMING ABORTIONS.

Now here is the message from ALL:

Our Do-Nothing Congress
Efforts to defund Planned Parenthood continue throughout the country while an amendment to Title X of the Health and Human Services appropriations bill lies dormant, frustrating pro-life leaders in Congress who are doing their best, given the situation. The "do-nothing" congressional leadership has passed continuing resolutions for all appropriations bills, save one omnibus bill for three subcommittees this year. The subcommittee budgets addressed by the omnibus bill were all related to war spending.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services continues to fund Planned Parenthood, unabated and unchallenged. It is speculated that when the new Congress votes on appropriations bills in March, members will continue their Washington vacation and again pass continuing resolutions, instead of reexamining how they spend our tax dollars. While our economy is struggling, it is unbelievable that our legislators would have such a cavalier attitude toward spending, especially when Planned Parenthood, a government contractor, is receiving national attention because it is suspected of concealing crimes and perpetrating fraud. This is in addition to the intrinsic immorality of many of its legal enterprises, especially promoting and providing abortion and contraception, and promoting sexual promiscuity to youth through its notorious sex education programs and other unsavory activities.
The Prevention First Act

The Prevention First Act would provide millions upon millions of extra taxpayer dollars for Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood's "comprehensive sex education" effort would receive a massive influx of government funding if the PFA is passed, resulting in more initiatives such as PP's disgusting
www.teenwire.com being pushed to our youth.

Medicaid funding would also be expanded to permanently cover contraception, "emergency" contraception and other "reproductive health services" for more low-income women.

This act would also mandate that private health insurers and government health care programs cover contraceptives to the extent that they currently cover prescription medications. This is the government mandating that insurance companies and your tax dollars pay for poison in the form of abortifacient contraceptives and highly abortifacient "emergency" contraceptives!

Thank You for Signing!

As always, gathering signatures for our
Stop Planned Parenthood Tax Funding petition is a priority! We received an incredible response to our last Defunding Planned Parenthood Update in the form of increased signatures. We now have over 37,000!

Thank you and God bless you for your time, effort and dedication to fighting Planned Parenthood!

With your help
and your signatures, we can win the fight. When the Pence Amendment** to Title X of the Health and Human Services appropriations bill was proposed a little over one year ago, the amendment was only 22 votes shy of passing. We are very close to having the number of votes needed to strip Planned Parenthood of a large part of its government funding! When the Health and Human Services appropriations bill is considered again, we hope to have a stack of signatures that will be impossible for our legislators to ignore. Please encourage everyone to visit our petition page and sign!

**Pence Amendment (July 19, 2007): At the end of the bill (before the short title), insert the following: None of the funds made available under this Act shall be available to Planned Parenthood for any purpose under title X of the Public Health Services Act.

The Infamous Bailout Bill

In early October, our country was bogged down by a seriously faltering economy. As Congress considered the now-infamous
"Bailout Bill," American Life League spoke out to ensure that no monies went to Planned Parenthood. We are happy to report that when the final bill was passed and signed by President Bush, it provided no money to Planned Parenthood.

October Action Item

As you can see, there is much to do in the fight against Planned Parenthood. Please take the time to call your legislators and ask them to take action to defund Planned Parenthood!

Whenever an appropriations bill is up for a vote at the federal level, contact your legislators by e-mail or phone (by clicking
here and here) and ask them if any of the funds made available by the act will be available to Planned Parenthood. Ask them to have the following words added to every bill in order to ensure that Congress does not give any of our tax dollars to Planned Parenthood:

"None of the funds made available under this act shall be available to Planned Parenthood for any purpose."

Good News! Planned Parenthood Investigated for Fraud

Several legislators have called for an investigation of Planned Parenthood for possible fraud. Also, the Gerard Health Foundation is asking for the Department of Health and Human Services to conduct its own investigation of Planned Parenthood's handling of Medicaid reimbursements.

Additionally, American Life League has called for the attorneys general of all 50 states to investigate their own Planned Parenthood affiliates. ALL sent them documentation of an audit of Planned Parenthood of San Diego and Riverside Counties revealing that this California affiliate overcharged the government by over $5 million in a one-year audit period.

Three AGs have answered the call and are currently investigating! To encourage more investigations, please call and write to your state's attorney general and your state legislators. Go to
www.stopp.org/fraud to send a message to your Attorney General, calling for an investigation of other possible fraud from Planned Parenthood.
To find out more about government funding of Planned Parenthood and this audit, please watch our latest
ALL Report.
