The Foolish Philly Flub . . .

Taking Back the Rainbow

Robbing the Cradle of Liberty Boy Scout Council

.

On a recent Washington Watch Radio Show, Tony Perkins, host and President of the Family Research Council, noted that it is not just traditional marriage that is under attack by radical homosexuals. I pointed out in my series of previous articles what happens to those who dare to disagree with the push toward same-sex discrimination laws and same-sex “marriage”. .

Take the case in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where its Mayor, Michael Nutter (very apropos name) wants to advance a politically correct agenda by forcing the Boy Scout to either recognize homosexuality and allow homosexual scoutmasters or, in essence, get the heck out of Dodge! Here is an excerpt from one of Tony Perkins radio commentaries.

. . . Since 1928, the Boy Scouts have paid next to nothing to house their headquarters in a downtown office. But when the Scouts refused to lift their ban on homosexuals, the city council gave them three choices. The Scouts could

(1) vacate the premises by May 31,
(2) open their doors to (homosexual) members, or
(3) pay $200,000 in annual rent.

The organization chose the fourth option—

(4) suing for its right to assemble on public property just like any other group that uses adjusted rent facilities.

In a city where gangs and violence soar, you'd think the city would be begging the Scouts to stay. But here's the irony. This year, Philly asked for millions of state dollars to fight urban problems, while forcing out one of the greatest crime deterrents in all of Philadelphia--a character-building program that serves 70,000 boys. As a private organization, the law allows the Scouts to create membership criteria based on shared values. Like it or not, moral conviction shouldn't equal office eviction.

Perkins expanded on his above ideas on his weekly radio show. Much of the following was gleaned by a segment of Mr. Perkins radio show last Saturday.

The Cradle of Liberty Boy Scout Council built a building on city property in downtown Philadelphia in 1928; it poured $1.5 million dollars into renovating that building in the early 1990s. It pays $60,000 per year in maintain the building. They pay a token annual rent to the city in exchange for providing a significant service and contribution to the community. Most of the 70,000 boys that they serve are inner city youth.

EMBRACE SOLUTIONS OR CREATE MORE PROBLEMS

Fathom the depth and breath of the situation, most of the kids in inner city Philadelphia are fatherless; they do not have any male role-models. Here we have an organization, the Boy Scouts, which upholds as part of its mission, traditional moral values, God, and country with inner city children. What are some of the benefits that the Boy Scouts provide these kids?

· Reduced crime
· Reduced delinquency
· Reduced school dropout rates

In other words, the Boy Scouts are one of the best SOLUTIONS that Mayor Nutter has at his disposal to help him in meeting the needs of disadvantaged youth and their multifaceted problems that he faces in that community. These problems are primarily due to the breakdown of the family.

But what does this nutty Mayor do? He wants to advance a politically correct agenda. In essence he attempting to FORCE the Scouts to conform to compromised and diminished standards and allow homosexual scoutmasters to come in with these boys many of whom are fatherless looking for male role models. What is that going to do?
OneNewsNow.com
reports today that Diane Gramley, president of the American Family Association of Pennsylvania, points out in today’s OneNewsNow.com article that several studies have been conducted, which support the Scouts' homosexual ban, including one by research scientist and psychiatrist Dr. Gene Abel. "Since men that are exclusively homosexual are responsible for 21 percent of child molestation cases involving little boys, to [Abel] it indicates that exclusively homosexual men are ten times more likely per capita to molest little boys than [are] other men," Gramley contends . . .

What this pressure by Mayor nut job is going to do is either force the Boy Scouts to adopt the homosexuals radical agenda, or drive them out on the street and possibly out of the city where they are presently serving so many underprivileged, needy boys. Quite foolish, quite outrageous wouldn’t you say?

But this should make crystal clear for everyone what is behind the homosexual agenda. They DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE COMMUNITY. They don’t care about society. It’s all about them.

People of conscience and morality must let Mayor Nuttter know that groups like the Boy Scouts are part of the SOLUTION to the problems facing Philadelphia. They should be supported and embraced, not aborted and evicted!

TAKING ACTION

According to Diane Gramley (see the OneNewsNow.com
article already mentioned above) the city of Philadelphia has caved into the radical homosexual activist agenda and demands. These activists despise the fact that the Scouts do not allow homosexuals to participate in the scouting program. As a result, Gramley wants Pennsylvania’s U.S. Congressional representatives to do something about it.

"There was a bill passed in 2005 that would allow HUD [U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development] to withhold funds from a city that discriminated against the Boy Scouts. So we're hoping that our congressmen will step forward and ask HUD to consider withholding funds from the city of Philadelphia," Gramley is quoted in the OneNewsNow.com news article.

All across this nation the Boy Scouts must be supported and encouraged to stick with their moral values and mission.
