Hate Crime Laws are Unnecessary

Here is my response to one reader's comment to my May 23, 2008 article, "Shining God's Light on the Koran: Personally Accountable,"

To: Muslims Against Sharia Law

You wrote quoting Matt, “Hate crime legislation is wrong, because only God has the proper authority to judge hate . . . ”

Then you responded, “So what? If it exists, why not use it to do some good?”

What do you mean “if it exists?” Are you not sure? I am told that there was honor killing in Cleveland several years ago and the people were convicted of murder. What more can you do to a person than convict them of murder. They will either get years in jail or life imprisonment or the death penalty. The death penalty, however, is not used much used much anymore. There are already laws in place concerning murder and manslaughter. It is the responsibility of the judicial system to enforce the law and to execute vengeance on the evildoer. If the judicial system does not execute its responsibility for existing laws will more laws help the situation? The United States of America is not run by Sharia Law. Originally God’s laws from the Holy Bible were put into law. Atheists in the United States have since been trying to remove any honor of God in law or in American life.

God’s law in Holy Scripture is based on love. There are two basic laws and on these two laws all other laws are derived (Matthew 22:36-40). The first law is “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your strength, with all your soul, and with all your mind. The second is like it, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” If you obey these two laws you will automatically obey the rest. This means that all the other laws are hate crime laws for they are breaking the law of love.

The judicial system, public education, government, unions, business, and many individuals are trying to do away with love for God and love for your neighbor, and promote hatred instead for God and neighbor.

I do not know much about Sharia Law but I suspect it is not based on love. I hear that hatred is preached and taught in the mosque by the clerics.

God has set a natural hatred between those who would obey God and those who would not. Therefore, hatred can not be removed from people by law. It takes the Spirit of God entering into a person through faith in Jesus Christ for God’s love to be manifested in that person.

You must believe Jesus is God in the flesh. That He died for you taking your sins in His own body representing you before God, the Father. He rose from the dead to sit on the right harn of God. You must repent of your sins, invite Jesus into your heart and He will change you into a new person (The Bible, 2 Corinthians 5:17). Then He will come into you and you will have eternal life (The Bible, 1 John 5:11-12).

    “if it exists?”

Your command of English language must not be very high. In this context “if it exists” meant “since it exists”. And since you have problems with simple English, we assume you have no idea about American justice system. There is a concept of aggravating circumstances, i.e. hate crime, which may make a difference between years behind bars and death penalty when someone is convicted of murder. Haven’t you heard of murderers being paroled? Anyone convicted of honorcide should have no possibility of parole. Ever!

  2. You said, "There is a concept of aggravating circumstances...Haven’t you heard of murderers being paroled?" But this isn't the way it should be. There is a difference between manslaughter and murder in the Bible and this should be recognized in our laws, but the motive should be considered irrelevant in a court of law. Intentionality is different and is very relevant.

Sam, please read my comment on the article that you posted last week.

For the purpose of this discussion, you must understand the difference between your opinion and reality. It doesn't matter what you think how the things should be; what matters is how the things are. Since hate crime laws exist, they should be utilized. The fact that you think that hate crime laws shouldn't exist in the first place is irrelevant.

  4. That is totally ridiculous argument. If it was illegal for you to pray to Allah, I would not use this the law against you even though I think it is wrong to worship the god of the Qur'an. I'm not going to use laws against people if they violate God's commandments! There is no law against a honoricide hate crime, only racial and sexual orientation hate crimes. You are the one who is not living in reality.

What are you, an idiot? Or just so full of yourself, you think you can substitute "what is" by "what it should be according to you"?

"There is no law against a honoricide hate crime"

Duh! The whole point of the STOP HONORCIDE! campaign is to have honorcide to be classified as a hate crime. Do you even understand what you read?

  6. I'm sorry that I said, "That is [a] totally ridiculous argument." But I wish that you wouldn't make insulting statements to us. I can see that this (hate crime legislation) is something that is important to you, even though I strongly disagree. The ends do not justify the means.

We're not trying to insult you, just describing your behavior. As for hate crime laws, we never stated whether we are pro or against them in general. However, since they exist, they might as well be used to do some good.
