Recall of school board members initiated

Local Minutemen United Group Begins Process

The Mount Vernon News reports today in an online article that a local group of citizens associated with Minutemen United has begun the process of recalling the Mount Vernon school board. The reason for this drastic measure is because of the school board members' refusal to publicly respond to the question of whether a Mount Vernon City Schools teacher is allowed to have a Bible on his or her desk.

Over 1,500 signatures will be required in order to place the issue on the ballot. Petitions have begun to be circulated according to Mr. M. Russell Erwin Sr., who is a member of the Knox County member of the local chapter of the Minutemen United group.

This is just one of the on-going related issues in the John Freshwater story. See my post titled, "Freshwater to be fired" from earlier today.

The group would have even more motivation to proceed with the recall if Mr. Freshwater gets fired today, as I expect that he will be. What a sad state of affairs in our nation, when a man could lose his job because he is a professing Christian!
