Ancient History Lesson for President-Elect Obama

Cicero to Obama, "Listen up, bro."

Ciscero in the Roman Senate to Obama in the U.S. Senate.

T.D. sends us this timely quote from 2000 years ago that is most applicable today and especially January 20, 2009 when the new President assumes power.

"Where have we heard this before? So what else is new? Does history really repeat itself?"

> “The budget should be balanced,
> the treasury should be refilled,
> public debt should be reduced,
> the arrogance of officialdom (bureaucracy) should be tempered and controlled, and
> the assistance to foreign lands (foreign aid) should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt.

“People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance (welfare).'"

-- Cicero, 55 BC

This is good advice in 2008 for America, to avoid the collapse that inevitably came to Rome because it did not listen to Cisero . . .
